CANCELLED: 2020 Spring Boardsmanship Academy & Legislative Fly-In

If you were registered to attend the Fly-In, here are the next steps.

In light of the expanding COVID-19 coronavirus, the closing of the Capitol Building to outside guests, and recommendations by our governor, WHO, and CDC, our Board of Directors has decided to terminate AASB’s Spring Boardsmanship Academy & Legislative Fly-In March 28-31 in Juneau.

Your health, well-being, and safety are our top priorities. While we were looking forward to being with you in Juneau, it is not in anyone’s best interest at this time to hold our conference. We are following local and state suggested guidelines, which include not hosting large events. For current prevention and preparedness information go here: Current prevention & preparedness & information

Here’s what’s next:

  1. All attendee registrations will be refunded in full. If you have paid for your fly-in registration via credit card, it will be refunded as soon as possible. If you did not pay by credit card, you will not be invoiced for the fly-in.
  2. Hotel & Airfare reservations need to be canceled by you (AASB is unable to do so).
  3. Each Monday you will continue to receive our legislative newsletter “The Session” by email. Please refer to it for weekly updates.
  4. PLEASE do all the testifying you can via the internet and phone calls. Your voice is still critical.

While we are disappointed to have to cancel our fly-in, the AASB Board carefully considered all factors in making this decision and feel that this course of action is the most prudent.  Thank you for all you do to support Alaska’s students!

Please look for upcoming web training opportunities, and email updates on what is happening in the Legislature. Thank you again for your understanding and cooperation.
