How soon after the election should the board meet to reorganize positions? Is it okay to wait until our next regular meeting?

Answer:

Alaska state law (AS 14.14.070 Organization of the School Board) and board policy 9120 Officers and Auxiliary Personnel outline the timing for board reorganization after school board elections. The reorganization must occur within seven days of the election certification. By scheduling and holding a meeting for the election of officers within this time frame, your board will comply with state law.
