How to get started
The Alaska School Climate and Connected Survey (SCCS) is a nationally recognized, research-based survey designed to help school districts better understand and build a positive school climate. A positive climate directly links to higher student/family engagement, improved academic achievement, and better staff retention.
By identifying specific strengths and opportunities for improvement, you can implement targeted strategies to enhance connection and foster a positive school environment.
What the survey Measures
AASB’s School Climate and Connectedness Survey offers Alaskan schools validated data collection tools for students, staff, and families each Spring. The surveys measure:
- How students, staff and families view school climate.
- How connected students feel to adults and their peers.
- How connected staff feel to their peers and students.
- Social and emotional learning (SEL) skills.
- Cultural Connectedness (cultural identity, cultural responsiveness/sensitivity, and instructional equity).
- Staff perceptions of Trauma-Informed Schools.
- How school climate is experienced by different sub-groups, such as race/ethnicity, gender, and grade level.
