AASB is soliciting resolutions, resolution amendments, and comments from local school boards for consideration at the 2026 Annual Conference on Nov. 5 – 8 at the Egan Convention Center in Anchorage. These resolutions guide our association for the coming year. They also guide our advocacy and positions during the upcoming legislative session.
We encourage each school board to carefully review the resolutions packet. It is essential that our resolutions adequately address the issues facing school boards and public education across Alaska. As you review the materials, please consider the challenges and opportunities within your district—as well as those that may affect other districts statewide.

At their July 2026 meeting, the AASB Board of Directors reviewed the current resolutions scheduled to sunset and considered proposed revisions to existing resolutions. The Board recommends continuation of 13 out of 14 resolutions scheduled to sunset in 2025. The Board recommends that Resolution 2.45 Teacher Education Loan Expansion sunset, as the objective of this resolution has been accomplished. The Board further recommends the consolidation of Resolution 3.1 Declaring Children of Alaska Our Most Valuable Resource with Belief Statement 17 Declaring Children the Top Priority of Alaska, with an amendment to B17 and the sunset of 3.1. Finally, the board recommends a minor language amendment to Resolution 1.10 Local Control for the Operation of School Districts. The Board’s recommendations are noted in the Where We Stand Draft #2 document for consideration by the membership.
AASB resolutions provide the authority needed for the Association to respond when approached by the Legislature or other parties. We encourage member districts to review existing resolutions and consider potential amendments or new proposals, as well as identify important topics that may not yet be addressed in the current resolutions.
To comment on or suggest changes to the resolutions, AASB requests that your board schedule time to discuss the resolutions at a regular meeting and vote by official board action. We require all submissions of comments, new resolutions, or amended resolutions be submitted digitally by October 7, 2026. To submit a comment, new resolution, or amendment, click the button below:
A complete set of all resolutions, including those proposed by districts, will be compiled and sent to member districts by October 17, 2026. If you have any questions regarding the resolutions, please email Katie Oliver at koliver@aasb.org or call 907-463-1660.
