School Board Recognition

Shaping futures of Alaska's youth

Honoring School Board Excellence

School board members play a vital role in shaping the future of Alaska’s students and communities. AASB’s annual awards recognize and honor the dedication, leadership, and service of both individual board members and entire boards. By celebrating their commitment to strong governance and student success, we highlight the important work of local school boards and the impact they make every day.

2025 Nomination Information

Outstanding School Board of the Year

Every year, AASB honors one Alaskan School Board as the Outstanding School Board of the Year. The Outstanding School Board Award is designed to reflect and celebrate a school board’s exemplary commitment to effective governance practices. School Boards should self-nominate for this award. The AASB Awards Committee selects the recipient, and the award is presented at the Annual Conference awards luncheon.
