Application Requirements (*all Superintendent applicants*)

The following items must accompany all AASB-facilitated applications:

  • AASB Application Form (download form)
  • Cover letter
  • A minimum of three confidential AASB reference forms; primarily from board members and/or individuals who have supervised the candidate (download form)
  • Current resume
  • College transcripts (graduate work in administration only)
  • Current superintendent certificate (if applicable)
  • Background Release Form (download form)

Candidates who do not possess an Alaska Type B Certificate with a superintendent endorsement should begin the process with the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development. (AK DEED 907-465-2800)

North Slope Borough School District

Superintendent/CEO

The Board of Education of the North Slope Borough School District is conducting a search for a Superintendent/CEO. The Board is especially interested in applicants with experience in implementing strategic plans, a thorough understanding of education finance, proven educational leadership, and the ability to advocate effectively with government agencies and legislative bodies. The new Superintendent/CEO is expected to begin work on July 1, 2019 or as soon after as feasible.

The Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB) is assisting the Board with its search process, which is designed to recruit highly qualified candidates. All applications will be acknowledged. AASB staff will conduct limited background checks on all applicants prior to the Board’s review of applicant files. The Board will evaluate all applications and invite a limited number of candidates to interview at District expense.

Chatham School District

Superintendent

The five-member Board of Education for Chatham School District is conducting a search for a Superintendent. The successful candidate should have outstanding educational leadership experience as an effective education administrator. In addition, he/she should have experience working with diverse communities, have an excellent knowledge of fiscal practices and management of resources and an appreciation and desire for rural living.
