AASB’s Maintenance Employees Conference 2024

AASB and Alaska Public Entity Insurance (APEI) are teaming up to bring you the 11th Annual Maintenance Employees Conference, October 2-3, 2024, at the Lakefront Anchorage.

The two-day conference will provide content centered on school district maintenance issues and safety. Attendees will learn from experts and peers, and network with other maintenance employees from across the state.

• Stories from the field – District staff share their knowledge and experience
• Health and Safety:
  • Managing snow & ice for safety
  • Remote inspections, new technology
  • Updates on green chemicals and their use
• Hazardous waste handling
• Dealing with facility fires
• Reports and updates from DEED

• Understanding options for lighting controls
• Round table discussions
• Updates on Air filtration
• Professional development of certified maintenance trainers – Good School Maintenance training

ALASBO Good Alaska School Maintenance Professional Training — October 4, 2024

This one-day training, located at Wendler Middle School (2905 Lake Otis Parkway Anchorage, AK), is for facility operations staff, including management, maintenance, and custodial staff. It will occur immediately after the AASB Maintenance Employees Conference and will include maintenance best practices, operational staff roles in design, custodial management principles and compliance, CMMS and other key aspects of facility operations in Alaska. This includes some hands-on training, so come properly attired to visit operational facility spaces such as mechanical rooms and roofs.
